Air Pollution escalates: World Environment Day 2019

Every year The United Nations decides on a theme concerning the prevailing environmental conditions. This 2019, the theme is “Air pollution” and the many different ways to curb air pollution. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate, released the song “Hawa (Air) Aane De” in order to spread the awareness with regard to the increase in air pollution. It is an awareness campaign starring many Bollywood singers, choreographers and actor Akshay Kumar in the lead. This awareness ad campaign laments about the after effect of Air pollution.

Dr. Pranav Tripathi a former environmental researcher at IIT Bombay says, “ The first issue is the public transport and secondly planting trees should be made a compulsory act. The government should make compulsory guidelines where every student should be asked to plant trees

before they graduate from an institute. Generally, the pollution level is high in the winter season because of the stubble burning of crops by farmers and this is mostly done prior to the winter season. Therefore, when winter happens pollution rises to an extreme level. The government should provide money to the farmers in order to stop stubble burning and proper policies to this should be implemented”.

The World Environment Day is a day where people come together in order to do something needful to protect the environment and the “ basis for an enlightenment opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprise and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment,” according to the United Nations. The reduction in pollution will occur only if we take measures towards a safe environment. “Often you can’t even see it, but air pollution is everywhere. We can’t stop breathing, but we can do something about the quality of our air,” the UN says.

Save energy

Do not smoke indoor or outdoor in public area

The government should implement strong and reliable policies for the benefit of the nation and the people. We as responsible beings must contribute to this cause efficiently for the future generation to survive.
