Yesterday a good news came from the Gold Coast when India was busy in Salman Khan. World Champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu brought a gold medal for the country on the first day of 2018 Commonwealth Games. She won the gold medal in women’s 48 kg weightlifting event. In record breaking performance, she pulled off clean lifts in all three attempts – 80 kg, 84 kg and 86 kg. She is just 23 years old. A few months ago, she achieved world champion title with her best performance. She snatched that time 85 kg and 109 kg in clean and jerk.
Mirabai Chanu full name is Saikhom Mirabai Chanu was born on 8 August 1994. She is an Indian weightlifter. From 2014, she is a regular in Indian contingent in international events.
Chanu also has won the world championship medal and also a multiple medals in CWG. The Indian government awarded her the Padma Shri for her contribution to the country sports.  First, chanu became a sensation when she won a silver medal in 2014 CWG. Her biggest achievement as weightlifting world champion in 2017 which was held in the Anaheim United States.
Chanu also Qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics in women category. when she was lost the chance to brought the third medal for the country, after, Sakshi and PV Sindhu.
Chanu Comes from a Manipur, Northeast state of the country. Chanu was also awarded several awards by the chief minister N. Biren. they presented her 2 million cash prize for their achievement in 2018.
Chanu Was born in the poor family in nongpok kakching village, 20 kilometers from Imphal. she is youngest among her six siblings.
After the success of Mira in CWG 2018, her four years elder brother Sanatomba said in an interview, given to Indian Media ” One day I could not lift the bundle of firewoods but Mira easily lifted it and took it our home, about two kilometres away. She was about 12-year-old then,”
“I used to play football then and I could see the passion in her to do something. She gradually went on to join weightlifting,”
“She always has the passion to achieve big. She never put her under pressure and is always ice-cool, something that was evident in her flawless lift.”
