After Narendra Modi won the Lok Sabha election, there were twitter trolls threatening Anurag Kashyap’s daughter with rape. The Gangs of Wasseypur director and filmmaker on 23 May 2019 took to twitter congratulating Modi on his victory and also asking him a solution to deal with his followers that supports him and opposes Kashyap on being a dissenter.
He twitted saying, “Dear @narendramodi sir. Congratulation on your victory and thank you for the message of inclusiveness. Sir please also tell us how do we deal with these followers of yours who celebrate your victory by threatening my daughter with messages like this for me being your dissenter”. It has been reported by Zoom that an FIR has been launched against the one who threatened Kashyap’s daughter to rape with section 504, 509 of the Indian Penal code and 67 of Informational technology act.
Reacting to the needful actions taken by the Mumbai police and the Cyber law for taking up a quick decision to rape threats on women. He tweets, “Anyways I want to thank @MumbaiPolice @MahaCyber @BrijeshSingh for helping me filing an FIR. Thank you so much for the amazing support and starting the process. Thank you @Dev_Fadnavis and thank you @narendramodi Sir. As a father I am more secure now.
On the other hand actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthy who claims that she is pro modi took to twitter saying, “Dear @anuragkashyap72 I have been openly pro #Modi & yet have often rcvd rape threats for my daughter & even myself when controversy has erupted. I have done what a right thinking citizen must do i.e. complained to #MumbaiPolice & #cybercrime cell. NOT tag #PM!!! What’s your point?
Home minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik directing him to a file a separate FIR in the case underlined that such threats issued on social media should be taken “very seriously”. This is a response to aa similar incident that took place on 3 July 2018. India has seen many rape cases over the years, and women have been an everyday victim. Rape is no humour neither it’s a pleasurable sight. Intolerance and troll go parallel with each other because both cannot exist without each other.
