The flooding and landslides caused by the heavy seasonal rainfall have led to the deaths of around 80 citizens. Lakhs of people have been forced to take refuge in relief camps spread across the affected states.
According to reports , Kerala and Karnataka are the worst affected states, as the death toll climbed up to 80. An estimated 30 people have lost their lives and 14 are missing due to the floods an Karnataka. Meanwhile, red alerts have been issued in eight districts in Kerala namely Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.19 people died in Gujarat while 12 people suffered the same fate in Maharashtra.
A total of 44 teams from National Disaster Response Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy and Air Force are working together in the rescue and relief operations.
South Asia has been hit very hard by the heavy monsoons. At least 227 people died across India, Nepal , Pakistan and Bangladesh due to the incessant rains. The respective Governments are doing everything to protect their citizens.
