Big Bazaar Fined Rs 11,500 For Charging Extra For Carry Bags

After Domino’s Pizza, Lifestyle, Bata and Westside now it’s time for Big Bazaar to face a similar fate.

The Chandigarh consumer forum smacked Rs 11,500 at Big Bazaar for charging consumers for carry bags after a consumer filed a complaint with regard to extra charge for carry bags.

The Chandigarh State Consumer Disputes Redressal (SCDRC) has termed this act as an act of a deficiency in services. The customer named Saurav Kumar from Panchkula had lodged a complain against the retail giant Big Bazaar who was asked to Rs 18 for a carry bag on February 21.

The consumer had visited the store in order to meet the requirements of his daily needs and that he was forced by the cashier to pay for the carry bag. He immediately filed a complaint against them at the forum.

“Big Bazaar owns a chain of stores throughout India which see a large footfall daily. Despite earning huge profits, they are forcing customers to pay for carry bags produced by Big Bazaar. This is not just carelessness but a deficiency in services,” says a statement issued by the SCDRC.
