After reports surfaced that 6 terrorists of the Islamic terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba have infiltrated the state of Tamil Nadu, it’s major cities especially Coimbatore and Chennai have been placed under high alert.
The terror group consists of 1 Pakistani named Illyas Anwar, and 5 Sri Lankans. According to the reports received, the group came to Tamil Nadu through Sri Lanka by the sea route and they have set their base in Coimbatore.
The alert has also asked the citizens to stay vigilant as the group may try to mix in with the common people to elude the police. As stated in the alert- “The group has disguised as Hindus with tilak or vibhuti smeared on forehead.”
The police have increased security in sensitive areas and public places. In Coimbatore, 1300 personnel have been deployed to beef up the security. The security of popular public places like railway stations, shopping malls, bus stations, airports and religious places have been increased manifold.
The police have also released a photo of one of the suspects. He is a native of Kerala who worked in Bahrain but later disappeared.
After intelligence reports claimed that four Afghan terrorist have sneaked in India, the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have beefed up their security too. The sources have also reported that Kashmir is also a target for a big terrorist attack. The attack would take place to create an environment of unrest in the valley.
