ISIS again: Kerala on high alert

After many terrorist attacks that happened recently, now the concerns continue to hover around Kerala over ISIS threat, the state has been placed under high- alert soon after an audio clip was released calling for an attack on non-Muslims. The Coastal Police along with Coastal District Chief of Kerala have been informed about the seriousness in the coastal areas. “The intelligence inputs about ISIS affiliates setting off towards Lakshadweep and Minicoy Island from Sri-Lanka,” says Police sources to India Times.

It has also been reported by the security agencies that a boat is carrying 15 ISIS terrorist sailing towards the coastal regions of Kerala. The police have asked the locals to stay vigilant and cooperate for the same if any suspicious activity around the coastal areas catches their attention. The Navy along with ships and aircraft plays an important role here, and have been maintaining a high level of surveillance off Kerala and Lakshadweep coast.

The patrolling around the coastal areas have been strengthened from 23 May after a serious warning. After local terror group NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama’ath), which is an ISIS- affiliate claimed responsible over Sri Lanka’s attack on April, where 250 people were killed and 500 severely injured, the Kerala police force has taken this matter with gravitas.
