The order for the shutdown of various schools and other institutions was given by Deputy Commissioner Vipul Ujwal. The message has been shared with students on Monday evening. The list of schools under the banner of the shutdown are- Kundan Vidya Mandir School, DCM Presidency School, Gujranwala Guru Nanak School, near Rose Garden, Police DAV Public School, Bal Bharati Public School, Jesus Sacred Heart School, South City, Jesus Sacred Heart School, Model Town, Model Town Extension and Sacred Heart Convent School. The BCM, BVM school along with GGN Institute Management also has declared for the same.
The Class X and XII board supplementary exam has been postponed by the Punjab School Education Board. Other subjects such as political science, business studies, and physics exams have also been delayed.
The entire community and followers of Guru Ravidas are filled with fierce rage. Adi Dharam Samaj Sandhu president Sant Sarvan Das told TOI reporters- “It will be a complete bandh. No vehicles will be allowed to ply on the city roads, except ambulances, wedding vehicles and those of foreigners and airport-bound commuters.”
They now want the central government to take-up necessary actions. “If our demands are not fulfilled, we will stage a protest at Jantar Mantar on August 21,”- says Kamal Kumar Jangal, member of the Adi Dharam Mission.
The bandh will be from 9 am to 5 pm on Tuesday and the residents are strict to avoid highways.
