Sonbhadra massacre gets a political slant- Yogi claimes his opposition responsible

In a horrifying massacre in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh a total of 10 people were reported dead which were tribals and 28 injured severely. The incident took to the news on July 17 when a video was uploaded showing a mob running towards an open field in broad daylight with few acts of open-firing to be heard from a distant.

The number of people killed was reported to be from the families of the Gond tribe who got slaughtered over land disputes.

With the arrest of 29 people from the clash the incident took a political angle when Chief Minister of UP Yogi Adityanath blamed congress for the dispute. He stated, “ going to the bottom” of the case, the incident “is an example of a political conspiracy and goondagardi (hooliganism)”, and has exposed the anti-Dalit and anti-tribal face of the Congress”.

He also went further in pointing fingers at the opposition Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party by stating “The accused person is a party worker of the Samajwadi Party. He is an active role In the Samajwadi Party”. He also claims to provide government accommodation to all the villagers in the district with a compensation of Rs. 18.5 lakh each to the families of those killed and Rs. 2.5 lakhs to the injured.
