The Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman popularly known as the ‘Rocket Man’ of India, Kailasavadivoo Sivan who has played the lead role in the successful launch of Chandrayaan 2 mission will be receiving the award of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in Tamil Nadu.
The award includes an 8gm gold medal with the addition of rupees five lakh in cash. Sivan due to some excuse wasn’t able to receive the award but he will receive the same at a much later date from Chief Minister K Palaniswami.
He will be receiving this award for promoting science and technology along with his leadership skills that led to the “historical achievement of most successful GSLV flight with the indigenous cryogenic stage.” The success of this mission will make India the fourth country after Russia, the US and China to pull off a soft landing on the moon.
ISRO has also announced its launch for its own space station in the coming decade, in an extension of the Gaganyaan program. “We have to sustain the Gaganyaan program after the launch of the human space mission. In this context, India is planning to have its own space station,” he said.
“Since its launch on July 22 all systems onboard Chandrayaan- 2 spacecraft are performing normal,” says ISRO
