At a time when we are struggling to get the government’s attention in curbing the perils of bad policymaking. Here they are placing ownerships for statues that lead to no solutions to the unresolved queries of the mass.
Tamil Nadu’s celebrated poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar was damaged on Monday in Thanjavur district when the picture of the statue was shown wearing saffron robes which ultimately led to a political scuffle between them and the DMK.
The statue has been smeared with ink and cow dung on the face, though it has been taken care of and was cleaned. While this entire incident was taking place over 50 college students took to the road staging a protest demanding immediate lock-up of those responsible for disrespecting the poet’s statue.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a book on Thirukkural in the Thai language in Bangkok, following the saffron party’s Tamil Nadu unit tweeted with a picture of Thiruvallur wearing saffron robes with ash smeared on his ‘forehead and ‘rudraksha’ around his neck created rage amongst the DMK’s.
Counterattacking the rage BJP informs that Thiruvalluvar’s era was a time where there was no other religion other than Hinduism.
“Thiruvalluvar conveyed to the entire world the Hindu way of life through his Thirukkural. It’s highly condemnable to vandalize Thirivalluvar’s statue. It is a barbaric act. He doesn’t belong to one but he belongs to so many people throughout the world. Thiruvalluvar is supposed to be a Tamilian and was born here. During his days or even during the Mahabharata and Ramayana era, there was no place for Muslims or Christians because when these people lived, there was no Islam or Christian religion in existence. That was, Thiruvalluvar is a Hindu and he has spoken about so many deities through his Thirukkural- from Lord Indra, Brahma, Thirumangal, Lakshmi, etc” says Narayanan Thirupathy, BJP spokesperson.
Thirupathy accused DMK of spreading conspiracy theories stated- “Without knowing all these things, it is a conspiracy by the DMK that Thiruvalluvar doesn’t belong to any religion. The DMK is trying to create communal tension among the people of Tamil Nadu, which is not good. Stalin is trying to say that the BJP should learn lessons from Thirukkural but he and DMK must first grasp the book themselves. If at all Stalin reads Thriukkural, he will live in politics. First, let him learn Thriukkural, understand it, and then let us discuss.”
