The culture of troll has always been a universal debate, where a celebrated icon falls into the void of meticulous criticism. Director and producer Anurag Kashyap is always in the news, this time not because of his films but because of his debatable statements on Modi Sarkar. He is popular and well known for his witty remarks and is conceived as someone who never feared trolls.
BJP’s 2019 victory in the Lok Sabha Election have been widely celebrated in India by many but was a major turn town for few. In the midst of festivity, Director Anurag Kashyap took to twitter congratulating Chowkidar Narendra Modi on his victory. “ Dear @narendramodi sir. Congratulations on your victory and thank you for the message of inclusiveness. Sir please also tell us how do we deal with these followers of yours who celebrate your victory by threatening my daughter with messages like this to me being your dissenter. “ Along with this tweet he also added a snippet of the perpetrators threat tweet.
Kashyap have clearly made his point in his tweet by calling himself a dissenter or a protestor of Modi. Now you know what’s cooking on this side of the tweet when the same Kashyap condemned Modi in 2016, by questioning him on movie bans and another in that same year asking him to apologize for his Pakistan visit. He is a director who have been seen utilising the freedom of speech to the utmost leading him to land him into controversy.
There have been plenty of criticism on his tweets, and an ocean display of bigotry comments from Modi supporters. But, kashyap never held himself back from criticising the government and doesn’t believe in keeping silent out of terror.
