The source of data: Wikipedia and JHU CSSE Covid 19 Data. Total cases world wide: 141M, India cases:15.6M, Covid Deaths in India: 1,82,553. (Last updated data 4 days ago). Very heartfelt speech by Prime minister Modi while he addressed the country. A speech in which he thanked people of the country for their contribution during the entire 2nd wave. He also said, “Wherever we are today is because of the cooperation of people and their mindful act” he also said “we are in a better place.”
It was so impressive that Mumbai’s alone fine collection for violation of covid public protocols is nearly 50CR. Prime minister also revised last year’s COVID situation, reminding us of our health care facilities and medical advancement was not really up to the mark. He said, “We almost took an entire year to understand the virus, since it was fresh and strange.” He also drew comparison between this time (second wave) and last time (first wave). He said, “Now we understand more about the virus, set-ups, major aspects and our scientists have developed the cheapest vaccine in world.” But in his speech he did not mention how states and hospitals are also running short of the vaccines and oxygen cylinders instead Mr. modi said, “The availability of the vaccines will remain free of cost in the Government hospitals.”
He also added the government will speed up and strengthen the vaccination drive for people above 18 years of age after May 1st. Meanwhile in a recent record of highest deaths 2020 people died on 21st April 2021 alone. People were found struggling with availability of beds in hospitals, oxygen supplies, medical facility and vaccines.
Mr. Modi also applauded the NGOs, communities and people involved in helping people hit by the pandemic. He has also pleaded people to come forward in smaller groups and support the people in need and also ensure that people around them are following Covid protocols. If they do so, the government will never have to set up containment zones, curfews, and the Central government hopes and does not want to impose lockdown. The Prime Minister has requested the States to see lockdown as the last option.
In a recent development and the prevailing Covid situation of India, UK is to add India inRED travel list, also Prime Minister Boris Johnson will not be able to travel to India.
But for now, the Indian Prime Minister can be seen requesting and expecting cooperation from the people and the people are expecting for a rigid action to curb the COVID crisis. In the see-saw of expectations between the Government and the public all we see the death toll rising and setting up records every single day.

The year, 2021 to meet the ambitious target of 175 GW of clean energy capacity, India will be more prolific in its approach to lay additional investments worth Rs 1.75 lakh crore for having 35 GW of renewable power generation capacity.
The country has a total installed renewable energy capacity of 90 GW, so far. This includes 39 GW of wind and 37 GW of solar generation capacity.
Around 50 GW of renewable energy capacity is under construction and there is also a strong pipeline of 30 GW for new bids.
India needs to design advanced tenders with the inclusion of wind, solar and energy storage to warrant that renewable can replace fossil fuels to a great extent, according to Director General of Solar Power Developers Association Shekhar Dutt.
The year has been challenging for the renewable energy sector but the industry has been able to stand firm the mess caused by the pandemic with support of the government.
In November, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said there are huge renewable energy deployment plans for years ahead.” These are likely to generate business prospects of the order of around 1.5 lakh crore rupees or USD 20 billion per year. This is a big opportunity to invest in India”.
About increasing the share of renewables in the nation’s balancing energy, the minister said that India already has 38 per cent installed electricity generation capacity (140 GW) coming from clean energy and that the 40 per cent target will be outshone in 2021. India has set an epitome subject of having 450 GW of clean energy by 2030.
The International Energy Agency’s (IEA) latest report ‘Renewables 2020′ predicts the impact of COVID-19 on the renewable sector.
The renewables used for generating electricity will grow by 7% in 2020, which is in a huge difference to other fuels. While the global energy demand is set to decline by 5%, increasing access to the grid and the continuous installation of new projects point to strong renewable electricity growth.
India would be the largest contributor to the renewable ascend in 2021, and the country’s annual additions are expected to double in 2021 compared to 2020. Many projects are expected to become operational in 2021, which will lead to growth next year.
The International Energy Agency’s IEA, in its recently published ‘World Energy Outlook 2020’ report, suggested that the global energy demand is set to drop by 5% in 2020, energy-related CO2 emissions by 7%, and energy investment by 18% because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, the second biggest manufacturer of wind turbines in the world, expects India to add between 7,000 and 10,000 megawatts (MW) of wind energy capacity in 2021, its global chief executive said, despite a slump in projects over the last two years.
“Siemens Gamesa CEO for India, the new machine is an important element in the company’s strategy and it is entering the Indian market at the right time.” Navin Dewaji said.
In India, Siemens Gamesa has two blade factories in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, and Halol in Gujarat, a nacelle factory in Mamandur in Tamil Nadu and an operations and maintenance centre near Chennai. The company also has a Research & Development centre in Bangalore where it employs over 100 engineers.
Global wind turbine major Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy will start making the 3.4 MW wind turbine at its Indian plant in Tamil Nadu, said a company official. The new machine will be the highest capacity wind turbine in India will be manufactured at its Indian plant in Tamil Nadu early 2021.
Most recently, Greece Approves €2.02 Billion for Developing 2.81 GW of Renewable Energy Projects.
Greece’s Interministerial Strategic Investment Committee approved an investment worth €888.13 million (~$108.59 million) for Egnatia Group to develop 1.5 GW of solar projects across 12 regional units in Central and Northern Greece.
The committee also approved an investment worth €421.60 million (~$515.72 million) for Karatzi SA to build and operate 37 solar projects with a cumulative capacity of 830 MW. These projects would be developed in Larrisa, Magnesia, and Kilkis.
Terna Energy will be provided €585 million (~$715.65 million) to develop 18 wind projects with a total capacity of 360 MW in the Karystos municipality. These projects will be connected with the National Electricity Transmission System through a 69-kilometre long submarine cable.
Five other wind projects with a total capacity of 120.3 MW, with an investment worth €121.28 million (~$148.41 million), have been approved for Kamaridis GlobalWire.
With the influence of Covid-19 on a moderate fade and higher visibility of vaccine availability, 2021 assures to be a lively year for the renewable sector.

]]>Lotus silk is one of the rarest and expensive fabrics in the world. The lotus fabric is made out of lotus stem fibres. Only a few skilled weavers are left in the world who extract the natural fibre but it is a hard and time-consuming task.
It takes about two months to extract the amount of lotus silk required for one scarf, although the craftsmen get good returns for their hard work as each piece of silk is sold 10 times the cost of regular silk. It is important to comprehend why is the silk so expensive? The extraction and weaving process makes the silk much more costly rather valuable.
The lotus silk is extracted from the stem of the lotus flower. After the stem is handpicked and procured, the silk is extracted. The stem has thin and fragile fibre threads which are gained after hand-rolling the silk and put to dry it.
It is important to keep in mind that these threads have to be processed in 24 hours after handpicking them till they are moist. If the stem is not wet, the silk threads are bound to break. Therefore, it is important to make sure that the stems are hand-picked daily. However, the lotus flower can be harvested only between April and October. Once the tedious task of extracting fibres is completed, they are dried and handspun. Later, the silk is put in the looms.
However, the silk has to be handled with care as it is fragile and extremely delicate. Once the silk is woven, it becomes long-lasting and durable as regular silk. The lotus silk is more valuable, unique and elastic than the traditional silk.
While the regular silk is also weaved meticulously from silkworms. The caterpillars create their cocoons by spinning threads, to make a kilo of silk around hundreds of silkworms are required. They are fed on a tray with mulberry leaves for almost a day. The only difference is that the threads of the lotus silk are handpicked.
A team of 20 workers takes about a month to produce only 10 to 20 scarfs of 25 centimetres. While each is sold for thousands of rupees, in a way the hard work is worth for.
Since the lotus fabric is rare and in limited supply, it was expensive and difficult to get your hand on one. However, with the evolution in the fashion trends focusing on rare and unique elements, few designers have started using lotus fabric and other luxury materials.
Due to very few people working with lotus silk and scarce of skilled craftsmen, the industry scale is small and limited. There are only three places in the world that are known to be producing lotus silk, namely Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia.
Apart from the limited affordability of lotus silk, it has several benefits. Lotus is known for absorbing negative energies and has calming properties. The lotus silk also has health benefits as it is said to improve respiratory issues, heart problems and even throat problems. These factors make lotus silk worth for the investment in them.

]]>Central, the multiple brand store in Hazratganj, Lucknow asked customers for their personal information claiming that the police station had mandated the rule on them. However, the local police station refuted such claims.
Recently, in a Central retail outlet located in the Saharaganj mall at Hazratganj, Lucknow, a customer (journalist) was not allowed inside the store as he had refused to give his personal information to the management of the store. When the customer asked Amit Agarwal, concerned authority of the store, about the reason for sharing his mobile number with them. The store told him that the local police station had mandated them to acquire the information from the customers.
However, it was found that the store did not have any written document related to the “new law” and everything was only told verbally to them by the police. When questioned by the customer, they had no concrete statements and also asked for the identification of the customer.
According to the law, all the restaurants, holy places, hotels and shopping malls had been permitted to resume operations but are required to maintain and adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures of coronavirus pandemic such as practising social distancing, wearing masks and using sanitizers at regular intervals. It can be believed that they were asking for personal information with an intention of misusing it.
When the Aarogya Setu app is already in place in which individuals register through their mobile numbers, why is the store asking for the personal details of the customers? It is a breach of personal information.
There are several instances of the misuse of personal information such as phone numbers. On October 5, 2020, the RJD had accused Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar for conspiring against Tejaswini Yadav. A member of the RJD has given a phone number which was reportedly used to extort money from many party candidates of the upcoming Assembly elections. Additionally, the phone number was not registered in the state’s telecom registry. The phone number, “0612-2217222” was the BSNL number which was used criminally in the name of Tejaswini Yadav to demand money from RJD’s candidates.
As a result, the Lucknow customer was not permitted entry into the outlet as he did not give the personal details. Later, when the Maverick correspondent contacted the Hazratganj police station. The inspector informed the correspondent that they had not directed the store or any other store in that matter to acquire the contact details of the customers as it is their personal information.
Although they have the authority to collect the contact details in COVID-19 emergency, they have the rule in a written document. Since the Central store did not show any document when asked, it can be implied that they were asking for the contact details for some other purpose and not for the COVID emergencies.

]]>Rogan painting is an expensive art practised in Gujarat, India. Although the artwork had nearly died in the 20th century but not entirely. It is currently practised in Nirona, kutch by only two families who continue to practice it for trade, with an intention of sharpening and flourishing the artform. The place is known for its unique culture and craft.
It is a form of cloth painting which is made using a thick paste made from the castor oil which id boiled and stirred for more than 12 hours till it catches fire. But the artisan has to carefully monitor to make sure it is not burnt. The substance is then mixed in cold water resulting in a thick paste called Rogan gel. The gel is later blended with readymade pigments which results in thick Rogan colour paste. Some of the frequent colours used are red, blue and yellow.
The floral and geometrical designs are then made with the colour paste on the cloth with a stick or a stylus. These paintings are mostly famous for happiness and tree of life concepts.
The process of mixing the paste is done till threads are formed. The artisan then use the thread to create patterns and designs on the cloth by free hands.
This art can be practised on various sizes, depending on the product. In case of a shawl, the pattern will be of 2 metres while there will be 6-9 metres of design on a saree but only on the border. A mere design of 12-17 inches takes a minimum of 3 days.
This 400 years old art was earlier practised and traded within the village only. Traditional clothes of the women carried Rogan designs in skirts and ghagras. It was later extended to table cloths, dupattas, cushion covers. It also includes intricate design patterns on shawls and wall hangings.
One of the few well-known Rogan artists, Katri Rizwan Sidhvik in Nirona, Kutch made a 7-metre peacock design that was purchased for Rs 2 lakhs, consequently, he designs corners of handkerchiefs which are sold for Rs 50.
Rogan, the Persian word was first used in the Mughal Empire. This art had begun by the community of the Muslim Khatris in Kutch. These paintings and cloths were initially purchased by lower-class women for occasions, it was a seasonal and not a recurring artform. This implies that it was seasonal employment as the artisans for the rest of the year would shift to other means of livelihood such as farming or labouring.
Additionally, industrialisation gave rise to many cheap and efficient machines in the 20th century. There are only six people in India who practise the art form as it had declined due to machines and textiles. This was cost-effective as the freehand painting was expensive and mostly bought by foreign people of Japan, Australia and Spain.
This art has been passing down from the last eight generations in these families but they don’t have enough investment and customers to spread the artwork. In order to help these artisans, in 2012, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had purchased a piece of this artwork to gift a rare art of India to Britain high commission James Bevan. The government has also set up NGOs to facilitate markets for them. They are also encouraged to draw new designs and used different colours to have a different impact on people.
Given the fact that Rogan paintings were quite expensive and fewer artisans developing the products, it slowly and steadily declined. Now, there are only two families of Khatris in Gujarat left who practice the art form.

]]>Jewellery brand Tanishq has again run into contention with people trending #boycotttanishq once again to Twitter. After being accused of ‘promoting love jihad through one of its earlier advertisements, the brand drew outrage once again, this time for its video on celebrating the festival of Diwali.
The brand new collection, ‘Ekatvam by Tanishq’, featuring Sayani Gupta along with Alaya, Neena Gupta, and Nimrat Kaur, all celebrating the unique design of the collection and reflecting the celebration of the oneness and togetherness of different art forms and talking about what Diwali means to them how they are going to celebrate. However, this time the offense has been taken by a line in the ad said by actor Sayani where she is promoting a cracker-free Diwali. The line, “Definitely no firecrackers, and I don’t think anyone should light any firecrackers, but lot of diyas, a lot of laughter hopefully and positivity” yet once more the brand remain failed to influence a section of internet users who have jumped in to ask for another boycott.
The outrage became visible as on November 8, the actor took to Twitter to promote a peaceful Diwali amid covid19 and wrote “This Diwali, instead of bursting a firecracker, use that 5, 20, 200, 2000 rupees, in buying a mithai or a Dabba of sweets for someone who can’t buy it, buy them two diyas so they also feel like it’s a special day. Do it. And see how you feel.”
But this has distressed some people and sparked the #BoycottTanishq trend again, as C.T Ravi, BJP National General Secretary MLA from Chikkamagaluru Karnataka, slammed by replying that “Why should anyone advise Hindus how to celebrate Our Festivals? Companies must focus on selling their products, not lecture us to refrain from bursting Crackers. We will light lamps, distribute sweets, and burst green crackers. Please join us. You will understand Ekatvam.”
Following this many people came in support of this sentiment and netizens are making it viral and once again protesting against the ad by trending #BoycottTanishq and raising the question about not to “defame the culture” by declaring that Hindu festivals contribute to pollution. But Do you really think Tata spends crores of rupees on an advertisement to intentionally hurt sentiments? And in what way exactly their sentiments are hurt?
They are the ones who find hindu – muslim connections in every single thing including what is an overbearing but otherwise perfectly clean ad spreading awareness about not burst fire crackers, and already several state government have banned sale of fire crackers, nobody questioned them and rather declared it as religion defamation. Tanishq (Tata) has no reason to promote Religious defamation or Hurt the sentiments of Hindus who form 70% of his market.
The Real problem is here hollow brain of people who are brewing up this issue and are showing deep interest in connecting every issues as religion discrimination. They are the ones who are making the smallest molehills into Mountains. Tomorrow it will be worse. It is difficult to figure out the communities of the people who are planning for ‘New Radical Change of Demographics’ or to decide the ‘Need to guard their homes from a community’ but it is certain that ‘This is not the India about which one would have hoped that it would experience an increasing outrage towards the religious topics, caste and of course the ongoing age-old ‘Hindu Vs Muslim’ issue and that too ‘Digitally, in Digital India.’

]]>On November 7, President Donald Trump lost the US elections 2020 to Joe Biden. It is rumoured that with the downfall of Trump in America, Modi will also lose the upcoming general elections owing to the similarities between them.
The first prominent similarity that people often find is their social media activity. When it comes to tweets and posts on social media both the leaders are active in expressing their views. While PM Modi not tweeting on important events have taken the attention of many people. Donald Trump’s frequency of tweets on social media has worked against him. It is rumoured that Trump’s team had been trying to keep him off the Twitter account by showing him only the news that is favourable to him.
It has been observed that Narendra Modi is often silent in important issues but would become active when it comes to posting for irrelevant events. The Twitter account of PM Modi was inactive when the Dadri lynching took place, however, he did not stop himself from posting about the Death of Asha Bhosle’s son. He has the time to tweet about the Indian cricket team but not about the arrest of Arnab Goswami.
Apart from their social media presence, both the leaders have been a part of many scandals. In the reign of US President Donald Trump, the Russian scandal had taken place. It was in relation to the security and credibility of the American voting system.
Later, during the investigation of the Russian intervention in the voting system of America, Trump had allegedly fired FBI Director James Comey in 2017 and put the blame on the senior Justice Department officials. Director Comey had also testified that Trump had asked him to dismiss the investigation on the National Security Adviser, Flynn who was accused of misleading the White House for being a part of the Russian scandal.
Even the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is allegedly involved in such scandals. Such as the e-nam Yojna of bringing the national agricultural market on the online platform. In spite of having every essential element of the e-nam market plan still, it was a failure. Because of the disinterest of farmers and their unfriendly interface with the e-nam portal. It was seen farmers were e-illiterate. They do not even have their unique id passes to access the portal and didn’t believe in its access and benefits.
It is also believed that a major reason that President Trump lost the 2020 US elections was due to his incompetent handling of the coronavirus situation in the US. Similarly, Prime Minister Modi had mishandled the mass migrant worker situation in India where thousands of migrant workers were left stranded and unemployed. The government made no significant efforts to send them to their native places and many influential people had to step in to contribute in helping the workers.
People have also accused Trump of his racial views. There were instances of him blaming a judge for being biased as he was Mexican. His real estate company was even sued for not renting black people. He had also challenged President Barack Obama’s birthplace doubting if he was even born in the United States.
President Trump had also slammed the Black Lives Matter protest when it was holding momentum in the country. He blamed the protest for destroying many black lives and called the crowds of the protest as the bunch of thugs. While People have also blamed Modi for supporting the people from a specific social-economic background. For instance, Modi’s support for large organisations like reliance and Adani.
Both have also been criticised for being anti-Muslims. For instance, In the recent Uttar Pradesh elections, BJP had won 312 seats out of 403 but they did not even have one Muslim candidate. The Indian government had also banned the sale of cattle for slaughter which would affect the religious minorities. On the other hand, Donald Trump had also banned immigration to the US of people from certain Muslim countries.
People have disagreed with their Islamophobic ideas and extremist policies. President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also are accused of having nationalist beliefs. Such as the MAGA campaign of Trump. People had accused him of speaking low of America while Modi’s nationalistic views for Hindutva had made people target him.
People had also found them of spending millions of dollars in their respective election campaigns. Modi had spent around 714.28 crores (approximately $114 million) for his 2014 election campaigns while Trump spent 1 billion dollars in the 2020 election campaign.
It is rumoured that with the downfall of Trump in America, Mr Modi will also lose the upcoming general elections owing to the similarities between them. Although the United States are in a better situation as they had an option for the Presidency. With the BJP’s government being elected for the past two terms, indicates that the Indian National Congress is not much of an option. Finally, voters are not left with much of an alternative.

]]>On November 4, the Chief-in-Editor of Republic tv, Arnab Goswami was arrested by the Mumbai Police regarding the 2018 suicide case. He was charged with IPC section 34 and 306 for the suicide of Interior Designer, Anvay Naik and his mother due to the non-payment of dues by the Republic Media Network.
The reporter of the Mavericktimes had connected to the local crime branch, Alibag to know more about the Anvay Naik case as there were multiple versions in the media. In a conversation with Monika More, the constable at the Alibag police station did not have the information on the same. Which also raises the question if the constable really did not have the answer or was she not supposed to?
Later, Constable More asked the reporter to contact the Public Relations Officer of police. In addition to this, the reporter discovered that the previous PRO was transferred and a new public relations officer was posted in Alibag, as per the constable. Upon contacting the PRO, Javed Mulla, sub-inspector said, ‘we do not have any authentic information’.
The reporter further contacted the lawyers defending Arnab Goswami. In conversation with the lawyer Abad Ponda, he gave an insight into the case. Mr Ponda said that Arnab Goswami was put behind the bars for his style of journalism where he can be seen questioning Maharashtra government.
When Mr Ponda was asked about the suicide case for which Arnab Goswami was arrested, he said, ‘There is no evidence against him, they have gone and created everything. Initially, there were none and suddenly they have got a lot. The timing of the lot is very suspecting because when he speaks against them they start creating the lot till then nobody had created anything’.
On 4th November, a rage of mixed views on social media was seen for the sudden arrest and the alleged assault of Arnab Goswami. The President of the Bhartiya Janta Party, Amit Shah tweeted against the misuse of power against the accused.
Many people had replied with the hashtag #IStandWithArnab urging the government to support the editor in chief of Republic Tv. They had literally warned the central government that if no action is taken to support Arnab Goswami, people would not support them in the upcoming elections.
Mr Ponda said, ‘nobody has supported him, has they bothered to help him? The whole establishment is against him.’ The lawyers have no received any support from whosoever which has led the people to criticise the government for their ignorance.
‘Caught using social media in custody’, Arnab Goswami shifted to Raigad jail. Republic TV has denied the allegation that Arnab Goswami used a phone while in judicial custody, describing the claim as ‘sickening falsehood’. If the police are believed to be true about Arnab Goswami using the phone. it also hints a lavish wifi Judicial custody under Maharashtra Government.

]]>The biggest misfortune today in India is not hunger, poverty, unemployment, or lack of development but it is when problems like such remain unaddressed. While on the one hand a gigantic percentage of people dying due to covid19, GDP is declining, rape and crimes are increasing but the media industry in India is busy in defaming Bollywood Industries and opposition parties thereby leaving aside all socio-economic issues of the country. India’s media universe has changed news television has descended from journalism into pulverizing propaganda that pushes political views and bullies contrary opinion. Until 2000, journalism was respected by people and feared by crooks.
In the name of truth, some self-styled influencers have glossed over the distinction between news, opinion, and hypothesis. They seem to believe that the louder people are, especially on television channels, the more authenticity there is to their arguments. But aggression and decibel levels doesn’t change the truth. This is probably why this period is being called the post-truth era.
For instance, If we look at the way several news agencies dealt with the suicide case of promising actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The uncertainty and drama surrounding his death had been going on for months until experts ruled that it was indeed a case of suicide. Initially, after registering a first information report in Bihar, the case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CBI spokesperson did not issue any statement on the case at that time. But some television channels were determined to cast themselves in the roles of the plaintiff, lawyer, and judge, all at once.
But here the job of reporters didn’t end, rather in the next chapter of the saga, his former partner and film actor Rhea Chakraborty was pilloried as a gold digger and as a person who may have had a role in his death. Several actors and Chief Minister (CM) Uddhav Thackeray and his family were targeted.
That was the result of? What led to the problem? Actually, the phenomenon has much to do with the business model because the reason behind all the drama is that today in 2020; Most of the Indian Electronic Media is on paid news or Biased with the power of Government. They are way behind the research journalism. The people are seeking the truth which will unveil the current status of the country. But Indian media do a lot of ‘WTF journalism’. They exaggerate headlines and use a lot of crap words to define any particular news hence with the same aim – to get TRP, more views, and of course to attract and fool a lot of dimwits.
Now, most politicians or parties across the country either own or back TV news channels by proxy. Profit is not money, but influence. The journalist turned into a hired gun of politicians and lost legitimacy. TV newsmen became unctuously untrustworthy underlings who are perceived contemptuously by the public as enteric entertainers with the morals of a psychotic sycophant. Anchors don’t lose a second’s sleepover holding a media trial to send an innocent girl to jail.
Here I bring you a few bloopers, fails, blunders, and lies made by Indian media that will make you say ‘R.I.P journalism’.
When other news channels were probably discussing the strategies Indian Cricket Team could bring into the game, here was Aaj Tak, and Tez, with its special coverage on the World Cup match, titled “Modi Dilayenge Cup” (Modi will bring the Cup) and “Modi ka Luck, Virat layenge Cup” ( With Modi’s luck, Virat will bring Cup”. )
