Patanjali claims that these Ayurvedic medicines have shown 100% favourable results during the clinical trials on COVID-19 infected patients except those on a life support system. In a telephonic interaction with PTI, Ramdev said, “Coronil and Swasari have been developed by Patanjali Research centre, Haridwar and privately owned by National Institute of Medical science, Jaipur following all the protocols with clinically controlled trial-based evidence. Patanjali first conducted clinical case study control trials, following all protocols of drug discovery.”

The medical regime involved are Tablet Swarasi Ras (500 mg) Tablet Pure Ashwagandha Extract (500 mg), Tablet Pure Giloy Extract (500 mg) Tablet Puri Tulsi Extract (500 mg) and Anu Taila (nasal drop) as per their clinical trial website. A check on the clinical trial registry, where all trials must be registered showed that a wide spectrum of patients were solicited. They were asymptomatic, mildly symptomatic, moderately symptomatic and those aged 15-80. The Original aim of the study was to check the status of the patients on day 3, day 7 and day 14, and if they have improved immunological parameters, as a result of the medicine.

Communication gap has been done away with and we have 100 percent fulfilled all standard parameters for Randomised Placebo- Controlled Clinical Trials. We’ve given information for the same to the Ministry of Ayush.”

Two police complaints have been registered against Patanjali, for misleading people and launching a medicine without the go-ahead from the Indian council of Medical Research or ICMR, in Rajasthan and Haryana. There is no scientific evidence of any alternative cure for COVID-19, even as vaccines are tested by many countries, the WHO has asked to be more cautious about such claims. Although, the tests are yet to be done on patients who are highly infected and are on life supports like ventilators.
